Bridge Information
The Lancaster Mennonite School Bridge is a Pratt through truss bridge on a private road in the Lancaster Mennonite School campus. It was built in 1890 and is an extremely rare example of a bridge with almost no alteration. Because this bridge is on a private road, upgraded safety features, such as modern guiderail, are not required.
The bridge has detailed latticed steelwork, including top chords with no cover plate, vertical struts and portal bracing. It also displays built-up fishbelly floor beams, and gas pipe railings. The deck appears to be constructed from post-tensioned cinderblocks with an asphalt overlay.
