Bridge Information
The Brandywine Park Swinging Bridge, also called the Brandywine Creek Footbridge, is a wire suspension bridge in Wilmington, Delaware. It was built in 1909 to carry non-motorized traffic across the river. This bridge notably has a substantial stiffening truss, which is not typical on pedestrian bridges. This means that the bridge moves less and does not truly swing.
The bridge was temporarily closed for two months in 2014 for renovations and upgrades.
